AHI & Play16
« on: February 23, 2003, 06:47:48 PM »
Does anyone know how to get Play16 to output to an AHI device without the GUI popping up.

I've tried OUTPUT=SB128 but it does not work.
I know if you have a Prelude the setting is OUTPUT=Prelude, but what is it for a Soundblaster card on a Mediator board??

OUTPUT=AHI works but your get a gui popup for selection.

I guess you are running it via a CLI or script?

On my Toccata card I use:

c:play16 "samplename" output=ahi mode 655362 >nil:

The >nil: redirect stops Play16 output to a console.

Hope that helps :-)

OK that makes more sense.

So i assume the Mode number is the ModeID in AHI.
Problem is mine is 0x0014010f

Use GAIP16 included with Play16 to get the ModeID in decimal.

GAIP16 output for Toccata Stereo HIFI++

Hardware ID: 655360 (0x000A0000)
Mode ID:     655367 (0x000A0007)

There is a player on Aminet called: TKPLAYER, wich takes everything, as well as wav's and mp3's and that player is AHI only.

You should try it...

I hope this helps...

it works in shell but not in tooltypes.

What i trying to do is get Vclock to output its sound to AHI, so i managed to get play16 to output when manually typing in shell but it does not work for Vclock.

TKPlayer also looks good but it sounds terrible on IFF sounds.

I downloaded VClock and could not get play16 to redirect to AHI in the
way you are trying too either.

The solution for me when I get programs like VClock is to use the
Amiga's standard output.  I have run a cable from the Amiga's RCA
output to the Toccata's AUX2 input and then set the software mixer to
half volume for "AUX2".  I do not know what software you have for your
card but there could be a similar mixer that you can use with the
soundblaster's "MIC" input?

This method works on Workbench's Error sound and system (but not AHI)
friendly games.

Yeah thats an option.
I have a soundblaster digital 5.1

the A4000T has built in bay speakers which produces the Amiga sound. The soundblaster card produces the AHI sound.

I suppose i don't really need it but be handy to have the option.

Taking the output on the A4000T daughter sound card to the soundblaster would work. I have to have special cables made up if i want Amiga Sound to be directed to both built in speakers and the soundblaster card.
