Read the Ibrowse mailing list and came across a post from Stefan Burström stating that much of the work put in to IB2.3 was made so that the transition to IB 3.0 would go smoother, latter in the post he  estimates that a IB3.0(beta?) could be up and running in about 4-6 months from now.

He doesn't really say IB3.0 beta, he just says "I expect something should be running in about
4-6 months from now.", which could mean anything...
