KD7HTH:

I had the exact same problem... what I had was a 3.2 gig IDE and it would not recognize the size correctly so I entered it manually, well when I did that I recieved the error you had.  But if I left it alone it would recognize only 2.1 gig and would NOT give me the error you just recieved.  Sounds to me like its not recognizing the drive properly even though you say it is.

@Cyberus

Was just trying to strike up a conversation with the guy.  That's how it is done in the USA, by asking a question.

Sorry, I realised that after I'd posted it.
In fact, I would have done it the same way.
I've just had a bad day and was being {bleep}ty. My apologies.

Hey TjLaZer,

Yes, bro I am in the Army and I was last stationed at Ft Lewis which I suspect you are now located. We loved Washington for the three years we were there . Mt Rainer stole my heart. I hiked the Wonderland trail the last summer I was there it was so beautiful. I took up SCUBA diving with the guys in Ray James' shop and since I have been in Germany I have only had one dive and that was in a lake; sad compared to the Puget Sound. 15 months in Iraq put diving out of commission for sure. I have a closet full of SCUBA gear and can't wait to get back to the States next spring to get back in the water. Not sure about returning to Lewis though. Chances are I would end up in one of the Striker Brigades and be back in the sand box in no time. Completed 20 years this month and looking to serving one more tour in the States when we leave here. I picked up on working with Amigas the past month and enjoy it immensely since I am a tech it is fun to tinker again.

Now as for AIDE2 configuring my drive, I did get one instance where the program stated my 2.1GB drive was only 85MB. I reset the 500 and then I got 0MB. So I got frustrated, rebooted and kept the standard settings without using the auto congig and then 2.1GB showed up. As I continued to partition then I got the above messages. It is frustrating but in a good way because once solved the victory is sweet, but you guys already know this. Any other advice?

The best,

-Ken

Yes, I have two each 2.5" 2.1GB Toshiba notebook HDDs and I get the same results from each, either 2.1GB w/errors or 850MB w/errors or 0MB w/errors. Sucks, but the effort is worth it.

I finally got the program to partition one of the drives but the best I could get was letting the program determine my 2.1GB drive is 850MB. Now I wonder if it is possible to go back into the process to see if I could get more partitions, however I suspect I will lose the WB 2.1 installation on the drive now. Any suggestions?

I still think its your hard drive.  I had similiar problems with mine until I switched to a quantum 540meg.
