We are weird people. all read this

Last night my HD in my A1200 died. made clunk sounds and no longer would boot. and what did i do?

without hesitation
i immediatly removed my 40gb 7200 rpm drive from my technologically advanced ddr rammed mhz monster, my AMD 2200 debian box.
put it into the amiga, formatted it and installed os3.9.

for some strange reason all i wanted to do was keep using
the amiga even though the debian box is so much more advanced i think just dont like it and dont enjoy using it.

and it's even more amazing the amiga picked up the 40gb hard disk. without a hitch.although i can only use 4gb : )

I did the same thing once! Well, it was my "spare" PC but there was no way I was going show it favorites over my A1200!

Also, just recently, I used (perminately modified) the floppy drive in my PC as a replacement for the one in my Atari(!) 1040STf, cause it was 2 AM and there was no way I was getting a replacement on such short notice, figuring why does my PC need it anyway?

That could be part of the 4GB limit under 3.1.  You *may* be able to re-read the geometry under 3.9 without losing all the data on the hd, and it will more than likely give you access to the whole 40GB of it :-)

I hold no responsibility - I had the same problem ages ago, but I can't remember exactly how I solved it ;-)

Yeah man, you can go over the 4 gig limit! I've used several 16 gig drivres in my ol' 4000. Go for it!
