I've given up on the A2000 as it's refusing to read disks, but otherwise appears to be fine ... thats on the back burner now ...
To cheer myself up I've done a top-to-toe on my 'nice' A500+ with a good clean and a fresh battery - and also put rust inhibitor on the shield where it's started rusting! Amazing how nice the case came up with a little soapy water :-)
Then I broke up an old laptop that died a little while back, and was surprised to find an 800Mb harddisk in it (t'was an OLD laptop!), so the A1200 was pulled out, bye bye to the 160Mb harddisk, hello to the new. Now I have the dilemma of weather to have 8Mb of ram and link to a PC to get OS3.9 over, or notch it down to 4Mb and try to coax the Squirrel into action (probably the former as TwinExpress is about 2x CDRom speed anyway).
Tommorow will either see me trying to find all the stuff to re-install onto the A1200 (just got 3.1 & Skidmarks on it so far), or I might attack the A3000 with a screwdriver to fit some goodies I've been stockpiling.
In case anyone's wondering there's no point to this post, it's just nice to do some tinkering :-D
