AmigaOS 4 and SDL
« on: September 11, 2004, 03:09:44 PM »
Hello everybody :)

I belive I have read somewhere that SDL is to be included in OS4 as standard, but right now I am having trouble locating this information in any official documents. Do any of you guys know wheter or not this is true?

Regards,
Michael Barkholt

I know the OS4 port of SDL is being developed by Hyperion but I don't think it's fully ready for release.  If you develop using the 68k headers it should be source code compatible with the OS4 native version.

--edit--

If you really need to know you can email MagicSN for all the details.  (He's the guy at Hyperion that ported XMAME SDL to AOS4.)

A current snapshot of SDL for OS4 will be available with the SDK that's out soon. The current version is already quite advanced, although some things are still missing (no video overlays, no OpenGL, since MiniGL's headers are incomatible with SDL's GL headers).

You can use the 68k headers to develop. After all, the API is fixed.
