cyberstormppc failure
« on: March 25, 2005, 07:25:26 PM »
My cyberstorm is slowly dying.
I have the 68060 pushed down towards the mobo to get it going.
But I still sometimes have to do a dual cold boot to get it booting.
So I figure lets send it to France.
Anyone has experience on pricing of repairs?
I think it is the socket itself for the 060 which has come lose.
Don't know if this is fixable?
But surely this is not the only board with this failure?
Btw pushing it down got me rid of a bunch of crashes under Ibrowse.
Oh and one other thing if I leave it on for an hour or so I'll have to wait a hour to get it going again normal?

I sent a broken CS MKIII '060 to Amiga Centre in France, it had a broken CPU socket and a corrupt flash rom update.
They whole feast cost me 200euro.
Jean says that a CS PPC card repair cost 230euro.
I'm very pleased with the communication so far from him, he kept me updated all of the time of his progress with the card repair.
