Reliable UDMA IDE on an AmigaONE. Refer to the link supplied by Elwood, I'm not making this up.

Sigh...they aren't sure what the cause of the problems are, whether they can be fixed with software (which they may well be), but after splashing out a small fortune they now decide to use a PCI slot and spend even more money on a fix that shouldn't even be needed on a system of that price. And I'll probably be labelled a troll for mentioning it. It's insane.

Your not Trolling in my book. It is a hardware design FUBAR that was found after getting DMA and then UDMA working. Something causes a bus collision when UDMA is used while the networking is active. It seems to be only a concern for current A1 users. It is being fixed in the next A1 batch and microA1s. Read the link posted above.

It should have been caught in the design phase. It's not an Artica issue. It's a few traces in the wrong place. Disappointing to finally hear that DMA is working, UDMA is working and then find another problem. One which causes DMA issues.

Edit: Okay, It appears to not be a Hardware design FUBAR on the A1. That's what I get for reading ANN. The problem is with the VIA, "a problem with the VIA not obeying the PCI protocol properly." as stated by Eyetech.

The last thing I want is to have another PCI slot sucked up by a card doing something that should have been implemented on the motherboard. It sounds like the board can be relatively easily patched, which is what I'll be doing on my A1. I hope the details surface soon.

Upon rereading though...

It seems UDMA and Ethernet cannot be used simultaneously.
What about plain DMA and Ethernet? If they work together, that's good enough for me.
