AmiFTP

Is there anyone else that have some filetransfer errors with this program? It works flawlessly when connecting to my FTP Servers (running on win98 and Win2K boxes) and downloads files without a problem, BUT... when I try to access them, they are corrupted. Shouldn't the program warn if they were badly transferred?

for example, I transferred a few images I made from my Amiga to my PC, and that worked correctly.  I edited the images then sent them back to the Amiga. they didn't work no longer. Same for ADF game files. I got Exile AGA as original, but the second disc was a bit faulty so I thought "hey, I download the second disc from the net and convert. Perfectly legal, I own the product itself." but that ADF file cause ADF-Blitzer to suspend itself. If I reboot the computer and try to ADF-Blitz it, it works but comes out as a NDOS disc, and doesn't boot.

So is it the software I use or could it be the network itself? I seriously can not figure out what's causing these problems...

I can't get AmiFTP to work at all on my Amiga!

According to reports I've seen, AmiFTP is pretty buggy
and there seem to be few positive opinions about it.

I use AmFTP (which WAS AmiFTP in the early days) from Aminet.
Both AmFTP and AmiTradeCenter are much better than AmiFTP IMO.

Is the file transfer mode is set to binary (not ASCII?) Otherwise it might be stuffing some CR/LFs into your binary files, thus causing problems.

@JaXanim

Please ignore my comments about AmiFTP, they should
have been referred to mFTP. Too much Special Brew I guess!

Yes, as ZMAN mentioned, check the transfer mode.  For most all use, you'd want BINARY mode.  (Not ASCII, or even Auto).

I've also had problems with AmiFTP and certain FTP servers and firewall configurations, but if there is an error in a transfer, it's usually good enough to tell you (or crash).

Corrupted files are usually caused by a wrong transfer mode.

I got AmiFTP from my Netconnect3 CD.
I think it's crap, to put it bluntly.
It has a nice interface but when it comes to the actual file transfers it's got lots of bugs.

I use the Amiga version of ncftp for my file transfer needs.
