Megadrive/Genesis pads with CD32

I have a fair few Megadrive pads around.
As they are 3 button pads, will all three buttons work with CD32 games that use them? I want to test them and then flog 'em on ebay, as I'm trying to trim down stuff before my move, but I don't have a Megadrive.
Obviously with a normal Amiga, I can only test one of the fire buttons I think...

well, I tried megadrive joypads on a plain A500, and it didn't work for 100% (I had to push a few times the middle button or so and then it worked :-))
And the canary said: \'chirp\'

Yeah, I had the same problem. I tried it with Gods just now on my A1200, and I had to press the middle button, B, a lot of times before it would work. I assumed that the joypad doesn't work properly, but perhaps not?

if i remember rightly from years ago, you had to re-wire one of the wires to get them to work properly, because of opwer or something, , but dont count on this

Sega Genesis pads have always worked for me without a problem, but keep in mind you can only use buttons B and C.they act like button A, and B on a Sega Master System but on the Amiga.

Games like Turrican 1, and 2 use both buttons, as well as Project X and some others.

But now that you mention problems with buttons.I do recall having to press button B a few times on a MasterSystem (8bit) wich is the equivalent of button C on a Genesis joypad.to get it to work.

I read somewhere that you can get a Genesis 6 button joypad to work fully as a CD32 joypad by switch 2 wires around...............unfortunately I can remember if it was pins 5 and 9 or 1 and 6
CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

Thanks for the replies people.

I guess the best way to test all these pads is to find someone with a Megadrive then. After all I have enough joysticks and pads for my Amigas and CD32, I just need to clear some space [moving house]

Better to get the official Commodore CD32 pad or the Honeybee/Competition Pro CD32 pad (which was in the shape of the original 3-button Megadrive/Genesis pad).

I tried the Amiga Cheetah BugĀ® mini-stick on the Master System and it didn't work at all, so there is definately not 100% pin compatibility there.

I see somewhere on the Amiga.org gallery though a CD32 arcade stick, this must be a home-made effort but looked nice, especialy for TFX!

Pity the CD32 pad never came in beige to match the A1200, and maybe with the same button style but unique shape. There'd still be a market for a classic Amiga-design ethos pad/stick.

If you have just the slightliest soldering experience it's easy to make the pad into a 3 button Amiga pad... for more advanced works one could make the start button act as autofire. I use a small tool called Analyzer to help me with the pinouts and testing the modded joys. :-)

I was concidering making a mouse and joy out of a PS controller but haven't gotten one. But I do have 2 N64 controllers now so I'll give it a go soon.

Indeed, also Amiga joysticks differ from each other, also other than just the difference between analog and digital joysticks. I noticed that when using my self-built mouse-joystick switch.

I rather mod a Genesis 6 button joypad to work with a CD32 than use one of those horrible C= or competition Pro CD32 joypads

I read somewhere that here IS a way to mod the Genesis joypads to work on the CD32, but I never confirmed it myself.

The idea was actually to TEST the pads.
I have some CD32 pads already, so its not a problem.
And I found out a friend has a Sega Megadrive, and he said I can use it to test them.
I like Amigas
