Real3d v2.x on a a500?
« on: September 10, 2004, 03:12:07 AM »
I have an a500 with kickstart 2.x, 350meg hd and 4,5 megs ram.. Will i be able to run real3d 2.x on this machine? I have been experimenting a bit with real3d 1.4 and that ran just fine.

Sorry, this doesn't answer your question - but isn't rendering with a 68000 quite painful?

edit:
I've done a bit of searching for you, but can't find any info on whether it will run on A500...
I like Amigas

That is actually quite true..
I was kinda trying to see what a 7mhz computer could actually do! There is something different about using a old computer to render some nice piece of art. It is just not the same when you do this on a shiny new 3ghz computer :-)

This is also the only amiga i have atm aswell.. I am thinking of buying a new a1200 when i get some money..

@ Tomas

I know what you mean. I'm doing a lot of 3D for a book that I am writing, and on the PC these renders are very fast. But the Amiga is special to me because that's where I first started raytracing. I've been toying with the idea of making the cover art on the Amiga, maybe with a very small boing ball hidden somewhere on it, as a token of my respect for all the Amiga has done for me.

But 7mHz: that would be something to see.

I also did some raytracing myself in the past
That was on a "standard" 7Mhz A600/4MB, and using
Maxon-Cinema. The picture I was rendering was in
HAM+Laced/320x512 resolution.
The poor little A600 finished the job after 2½ days...
