amiga B2000-cr rev. 4.3 riddle
« on: September 25, 2004, 04:54:50 AM »
Greets,

I just picked up an A2000 (B2000-cr rev 4.3) and a sweet 1084s today for $50. Before getting it, the seller told me it was flashing green when he checked the machine out. I told him to pull the Agnus and clean the contacts. He did.
Here's the riddle for the electrical engineer in YOU. ;)

The guy re-inserted the agnus in wrong, 90 degrees counter clockwise from where it should have been. What did the guy fry when he powered it back up?

If it were me, I'd put my money on the agnus.... but, I'm no engineer....hence the riddle. 8P

At least the Agnus is broken and most likely the PLCC socket for the Agnus is now cracked, so it'll provide an intermittant connection, if the chip is replaced.

He must have used a lot of force! The PLCC sockets are keyed to prevent incorrect insertion.

I'm actually feeling a little sad because someone didn't take the time to examine what he's putting where. :-(
