Hmm, when I read that title, I thought someone had pretended to rob a bank :D

Would be quite pointless, though ... not to mention dangerous..

Nevermind me

He he he.

I like smart crooks like those, they add some spice to your life :-)

In Norway some years ago, there was somebody who put up a fake wall in front of a night-safe deposit box, so that people who thought they delivered the money, actually put it into the fake deposit box on the fake wall! Brilliant! LOL! I don't remember precisely, but I think they got caught in the end though.. :-)

Hmm, I've heard that story before ... You sure it's not an urban legend?

Actually, I read it in a newspaper, along with some pictures of the actual deposit box...but it could still be an urban legend, newspapers pull a lot of dirty tricks to attract readers :-(

I think it's been done a few times. The other good ones that have been used quite often are ....

The fake bank machine. This will read your card, let you type in your PIN, then tell you there is a network problem or some such. After a few days, the crooks come back and remove the machine and, voila, lots of card strips and matching PINs.

The fake front to a real bank machine. Some of these are just a cover over the card slot plus a camera to catch PINs. Some are a full front that will also, as a bonus, divert deposits!!

Aren't theives ingenious. Many people would never try a thing like this because it is hard to believe that anyone would be dumb enough to fall for it. P.T.Barnum knew better.

Yup my friend with the dirty rodent as an avatar is correct;-) It is fairly common in S FL. Bandits will cover the real ATM card slot with their own. The unsuspecting victim will slide their card in and enter their pin. Either the card is kept or the strip is scanned. The pin is usually recorded by either a false pin pad or a spy camera. Same sort of thing is done at gas pumps too.

I won't use anything that looks even remotely suspicious, but most people go through life in such a haze that they are easy prey :-(
