why is it the the performance on RTG cards like the CV64 on a 040/060 amiga seems sluggish when it comes to games?
There was a time I can remember computers were fun...I miss my A1200.

Partly because there is more data having to be pushed around by the same chip than with AGA but mostly because the bandwidth on ZII and IV is not man enough really.

When you add up computation delays from the 040 and the 060 to bandwidth delays across ZII/IV you get sluggish updates that are most noticable on games.

I had the same problem with PicassoIV.

Mind you while the ZII/ZIV is sluggish Voodoo 3 over Mediator does not fare much better.

Just notch it up to old age ;-)
Hate figure.

If you really want decent 3D performance with an 060, you really need an A3000 or A4000, a mediator and a Voodoo.

On my 4k, Quake 2 is fully playable, even though I only have an 060...

If you are talking about 2D performance, really Zorro II is not very good. Once again, a Zorro III or Mediator 3000/4000 would come in handy...

Ofcourse, ideally, you want a PowerPC, too  :-D
