Trying to play cadaver, need some help...
« on: August 01, 2004, 12:16:59 PM »
Hi, I'm really new to emulation and would appreciate some help. I have downloaded winUAE and are trying to get the game cadaver going on my pc. I get the game running to a certain point but then it asks me to insert a disk and press a key, and I just can't seem to get past that. It says there have been some error. I have included a zip with the 2 adf's so you can try it out. It's probably something very simple, but like I said...I'm noob:)

I don't know the status for Cadaver so posting the link may be questionable...

Any, press F12 during the emulation should bring up a requester where you can "eject" the "inserted" disk and select disk 2.

Thanks seer, your tip and a little tweaking of settings has got the game running now:) But...I can't get the character moving, only things I can do are save, load and jump. How can I set it so I can move with the keyboard? I don't have a joystick.

Not sure about the link, but if it's not allowed I will remove it.

If you've got the latest WinUAE (See the news) you can setup the "game & I/O ports" or "input" so you can use the keyboard or PC joystick to emulate an Amiga joysick. You'll need to resort to the manual now, or somebody else wants to bunp in.. This is one area I find WinUAE still lacking, an easy way to configure your own key bindings...

Alright thanks a lot, so now I can also move the character. Moving on...;)Next I need to be able to save the game. I have tried to use the "create standard floppy" to make a new adf, insert that into drive one and save. It seems to be working but when I try to load a game I get an error. Any ideas?

Well, I suggest you paint your face a very pale colour, close your eyes and liberally sprinkle yourself with some maggots from the local fishing shop.
I like Amigas

Hahaha!  Now why would I expect that comment from someone with a Carcass cd cover for an avatar?!  Great cd by the way.  Probably doesn't help with the game problems, but definitely funny.

seer- nothing special, it just says "there seems to be some error with the disk, press a key to try again". I don't think the file is currupt or anything. I'm not doing it right I think. What do you need to be able to save a game, is it not enough to have an ampty .adf?

Cyberus- lol, it took a while for that one to sink in...maybe of this was an actors forum...:)

I've been searching a bit and it seems this game might use a "MFM" save game disc. Not sure if that's what causing the problem though. What do you guys think?

Just to be straight: I don't have a clue what I'm talking about...:-?

Haven't looked yet, but maybe there's a "create save game disk" option somewhere in Cadaver..
