LinuxPPC/Apus... I need some help
« on: August 16, 2004, 05:27:02 PM »
Hi.
I could use some help with installing LinuxPPC (debian 3.0) on my A4000T.
The installation program boots up, but when it gets to the bit where it's supposed to mount rescue.bin (the rescue disk image), it fails ('unable to mount rescue.bin').
I've tried installing via HTTP, CD-ROM, Hard disk, even floppy (I wrote rescue.bin to a disk with rawrite on windows), but the installation program is unable to mount any of them... any hints?
My specs:
A4000T (escom) 2 MB Chip, 16 MB mobo Fast
CS-PPC (phase5) 604-200/060-60, 128 MB Fast
9.1 GB IBM UW-SCSI HD, 4.5 GB IBM UW-SCSI HD
40x Toshiba SCSI CD-ROM drive (on mobo scsi.device)
PicassoIV
Delfina Plus
Ariadne2

I'd really like to play around with linux a bit, just for fun, maybe to run mozilla and gain access to my online bank from my amiga...

Thanks, but I've already figured that one out, took me some time, though... Anyways, now I'm having graphics problems...
But it does work, and it is kinda cool to run Mozilla on my Amiga (I can finally do online banking from my amiga :-) ).

@ PaSha:

Nice system by the way. That is exactly what I would want. My A4000T has no PPC and no PIV.
One day...

Thanks  :-)
All I'm missing is a CV-PPC... maybe I'll shell out the cash for one some day. I should have bought one when GGS in sweden were selling them cheap :-(

Edit: Just ordered one, cost me 300 €, but what the heck...

PaSha:

If you do get a CVPPC and you want to sell the PIV, please let me know. I'll give you a good price for it, if I haven't found a PPC board by that time.

I'll try to sell it in Norway first (less fuzz with payment, shipping and customs, since Norway isn't in the EU). But if I can't get a reasonable price for it in Norway, I'll put it up for grabs here.
It includes a Paloma tv-tuner and a Concierto sound card btw.

If nobody in Norway wants it, can I have first dibs on it? Shouldn't be a problem to ship to UK...
