Power Computing released a key for it a while back:

IDEFIX '97

Edited in respect of A.Org (And to stop Thomas from having another whinging fit)

You should not quote it here. It is not clear if it is legal. IDEfix is still being sold.

I thought it was quite clear. The software is no longer sold by themselves.
I searched on other stores and found that Vesalia "sell" it (Or did) and give credit to Elaborate Bytes. So I went to Elaborate Bytes website and found no mention of IDE-FIX or Amiga.
Is IDE-FIX not owned by Power Computing?

Well, I didn't write "you must not quote it because it is illegal". I said "you should no quote it because it might be not legal". Giving a limk to www.amigarealm.com should be suficient.

AFAIK Power Computing is a reseller like others. IIRC they published the key because Elaborate Bytes didn't answer their mails. But this does not mean that it is fully legal. So if you quote the key, you (or the forum owner) might be held responsible for the IP infringement. If you give a link to another site which holds the key, it is their responsibility. (In German law you additinally have to distance yourself from the contents of linked pages. Otherwise you can still be held responsible).

It is just that forums have already been closed because members posted links to not-so-legal pages without knowledge.

Bye,
Thomas

If PowerComputing have published the key, then who is left to cry "IP Infringement"? And if someone else did, surely it is PowerComputing's problem for releasing it in the first place.

I've edited it now anyway, so you can sleep easy.

I had mailed Elaborate Bytes in the past regarding a license and they were more than happy to take my money.  The software is not listed on their website, and doesn't look to be updated at all, but has changed names to IDEMax.

BTW, if you have the floppy.  Isn't it listed on there?  My copy from Eyetech has the code right on the floppy label.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Copies from Power Computing only have IDEFix written on the label.  They had a seperate sheet of paper with the instructions that had the registration name/number on it.

The first thing I did was put it in a text file and copied it onto the disk itself.  I've since lost that sheet of paper many times, and usually only find it a few months after a reinstall ;-)
