Western Digital Raptor drives

I bought a Western Digital Raptor 4.3 gig 80 pin drive.

I'm using the standard A3k SCSI device.
I've tried several combinations of jumper settings.
The controller doesn't even see the drive (doesn't know
its there).
The Tech sheet says its backward compatable with
SCSI 1 & 2.
Has anyone used the WD Raptor??
What do I need to do for the SCSI to see it??

I could never get my Quantum 4G SCSI-3 (SCA) working on my A3000 either.  I just figured the controller didn't know how to talk to the newer drives (or the maybe the SCSI-SCA adapter was causing trouble).

I have an old Quantum Atlas 9 gig 68 pin connected to the
A3k SCSI device and it works fine.

A 68 pin UWSCSI drive is a HUGE difference to an SCA drive..

SCA is just UWSCSI plus power in one connector. Probably deviced to enable hotplug in a effective way.
