A2000 ram card/accel? Anyone got one?
« on: July 04, 2004, 03:39:37 AM »
maybe we could work out some sort of a trade?  I have an unaccel'd A2000 that needs more ram so I can put in a graphics card (and actually use the thing for something more than a basic file server like it is now).  Anyone got a Tekmagic or similar card out there for sale?

I have a surplus of amiga gear and software around that will likely end up on eBay sometime soon to help pay to keep site hosting going, so I probably have something you may be interested in.....

What form does Amiga 2000 RAM take, is it on a board like 30-pin SIMMs
or individual pronged chips like ZIPs?

What's the maximum capacity for the A2000 and does it need specific
types?

The    A2000 comes with 1MB soldered onto the mobo, and thats all it can take without adding cards.

Zorro2-cards with RAM-sockects come in all shapes and sizes.

Pure RAM-cards taking single DIL-chips, SIPPs, 9-bit-SIMMs, GVP-SIMMs.
ComboCards (with HD-controller) takeing some of the above or even ZIP-chips.

8MB is the max you will get that way and you must subtract the RAM on the GFX-card from that.

But for CGX/P96 you will also need an accel and those come with differing sizes and kinds of RAM.

Worst offenders : Cards that only take 4MB, steal it from the Z2-address-space and have the chips soldered in like  C= A2620/A2630.

Best case : Cards allowing up to 128mb in standard  PS2-SIMMs like the Blizzard 2040/2060.

Offcourse it all depends on your budget  :-D
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

Hi amigau,

When it comes to the Amiga 2000 Series computers I am THE best person to talk to.  How may I help you and what do you have to trade me for a really nice processor / memory combo board?   :elvis:

well, what are you looking for in hardware/software?  I have quite a bit hanging around for both.  You already know what I need, something like a Tekmagic or similar card (preferably not one of the GVP accels' just because they are so picky with RAM needs), maybe a Warp Engine or something?

I might have a couple of those things - what kind of accel/ram card do you have?
