The Retina video card, you guys like it or not?

I have someone who wants to trade me a retina for some car work, i dont even know if they are good what do you guys think?

Wich Retina ? The Retina BLT Z3 is all right. The Retina Z2 is only of worth when she comes loaded with 4MB (ZIP) RAM so you can remove the RAM and use it in your A3000.

The retina is neither supported by CGX nor P96 so you are stuck with hte cards own RTG-system that makes it just a "better then nothing" card that usualy goes for 20-30 EUR (depending on the amount of installed RAM)

OHHHH ok well He will need to pay me cash for the car stuff then hehehe thanks it is a z3 retina by the way

Retina Z3 isn't bad.  I woudln't waste my time on the standard Retina.

That's actually a pretty nice card.  It's supported by CGX and P96, and works well.  Your workbench can look sharp in 16 or 24 bit color.  

The Retina Z2 model isn't as fast, and isn't properly supported.  It works well as a frame buffer, 24 bit image displayer, and ShapeShifter Macintosh emulation display.  But that's about it.  (It's really not very good for workbench)

The Z2 is rubbish and will only display using proprietary WB emulation software but the Z3 (BLTZ3) is a different matter altogether.
I have had a Z3 in my A4000T for about 5 years now (even overclocked it) and it never falters.
I was lucky enough to be able to also buy the Retina auto-video-switcher which, when properly connnected automatically detects either Amiga video or scan doubled vide and send the correct one to a single monitor ( in my case a Mitsubishi 17").
With the Amiga's great ability to have overlayed screens of different resolutions it works ultra fast and works with P96 (I helped test the first P96 driver for the Retina) and CybergraphX V4.
If he is offering you a Z3 tyhen by all means take it.
