Cyberstorm MK II in an A3000
« on: January 23, 2003, 02:44:42 AM »
Hi,
I have been trying to install a Cyberstorm MKII in my A3000.  I had it running fine until I try to install the accel card.  When I do the computer will not recognize the hard drive.  I have the latest chips (WD rev8, Super Buster, Ramsey 7 DMAC 4) in the machine.  If I boot off of a floppy, the extra RAM on the Cyberstorm is recognized but the HD is not.  If I take the Cyberstorm out, everything boots up normally.  Does anyone have any suggestions?
 :-?

Well first off you need to set some jumpers on the A3000. If you go to www.dcecom.net you can get the manual for the MK III which will list the jumpers for you. You also need to do some modification to get the ram to configure correctly. Here is a clip from the bog book of amiga hardware page stating that.

"NB. If you install this an any A3000 series amiga (inc T,UX etc) then you require a slight modification to the motherboard.
Auto Memory Config (configures as one contiguous block)"

Do you have to update the software libraries?

I`m just going on the fact that i had to install the correct cpu and 040.library (and setpatch) for my accelerator.

Just an incorrect guess...

Thanks for the help so far.  To answer all the questions,

I am using the SCSI controller on the motherboard.

I haven't reset the jumpers but I will look at that.

I thought the modifications to the motherboard were if you wanted to use the onboard SCSI for the Cyberstorm MK III.  I have a MK II which doesn't have SCSI with it so I didn't think any motherboard modifications were necessary.  Either way, I can see the RAM, I just can't see the Hard drive.

As for the libraries, I used the ones that came with the board.  This board was used by a guy with an A4000D and he had no problems with it.

So I shall look at the things you all have said and see if any of them will help.

If no one else has sent you a copy, let me know and I'll dig my manual out this weekend. I can scan it or post you a paper copy.

@Amigabill

Currently I don't have anything and no one else is talking about it.  I'll take a scanned copy unless you want to deal with a paper copy.

I went digging through a CD-ROM that I got with the accelerator and lo and behold a file labled Cyberstorm MK II Manual.  It helps when you look in the proper places.

Use the most recent libraries on DCE's website. You really have to manually set it up with the fake libraries and all. It's been too long, hopefully somehere can point you more in this direction.
