BlizzardPPC and G-Rex setup
« on: May 22, 2004, 08:41:29 AM »
Ok. I have a BlizzardPPC and a G-Rex. The BlizzardPPC isn't a rev 2 but a rev 0.
My findings so far are that I can't use the latest flash BIOS and the latest CyberGraphx drivers. If I do this, the Voodoo 3 can't be found.

I recently moved the whole setup to a 1D4 Amiga motherboard in an other case. I have the feeling that since then the setup is more stable. For instance with the old Amiga motherboard, sometimes, the screen stayed blank at cold boot only to show up after a reboot. I don't get this with the new setup.

So my question is!!! Are there any people here that also have a rev 0 BlizzardPPC but CAN use the latest BIOS and the latest CyberGraphx drivers with their VooDoo 3 card.

Yes i am in the same boat as you with a rev 0.
I took my Cybergraphix drivers as far as i could and just swapped the voodoo driver file to one i knew worked.

Open pci is excluded from us rev 0 users.
The big joke is/was the offer of fixing/upgrading them to a rev that worked. Yeh that was only likely to happen if you
lived next door to DCE and handed them in personally.

This indeed sucks. Even if you went there, I don't think DCE would upgrade it because as far I can tell, they stopped all their Amiga business.

The best turbo cards and graphic cards won't ever be made anymore and that plain sucks.

Does anybody have Quake 2 running with this rev 0 setup?? I mean older driver and older BIOS.

How does Quake 2 run with a Mediator and a Voodoo 3 and a BlizzardPPC?

There's a tool called boardtype that shows your card's revision number. Run it from shell and see. ;-)
