Amigaforever and PFS3
« on: May 06, 2004, 10:31:33 PM »
Hi!
This may be off topic but here it goes: I want to transfer some data from my Miggy to Amiga Forever using HD's formatted on the Miggy and I have this problem: whenever I try to do anything from within Amiga Forever on a hard drive that has PFS3 on it I get this error message: "Allocated memory doesn't match memory mask". When copying large directories it becomes tiresome because I have to click OK for every file. Is there a way to make PFS3 formatted drives play nice with amigaforever?

PS. Is there a Windows utility to find identical files on the HD? How about ones that have similar names?

This might not have anything to do with your problem, but do you use the correct version of PFS3 with Amiga Forever? I mean the correct CPU-version.

Hi!
PFS3 is already on the HD's RDB. There is no need to install it in Amiga Forever. Since I have an '060 in the Miggy that is the version of PFS3 I installed (hmm... was there an '060 version?) anywho.... I suspect it has to do Maxtransfer and such. Anybody using PFS3 drives with Amiga Forever? Is there a forum for the emulator?

Hi,

Isn't mask set from HDTools? It controls transfer speed.

Yeps.

It controls transfer speed.

No, it's a memory mask that tells the controller where it is allowed to transfer the data.

In the original poster's case, I'd first try to add 32bit memory to the emulation and then zorro2-memory if that didn't work.

I'd leave the mask setting alone, since it obviously works in the real Amiga. It's better to adjust the emulation, since the hardware config is much more flexible. :-)

MaxTransfer isn't about transfer speed either, but the maximum amount of data that can be requested / sent at a time.

Yeah... I tried playing with memory settings, CPU's, changing Maxtransfer and such (in the emulation: however it did not save those changes). Any other ideas?

PS. How do I get my signature to show?
