A4000T - Drive rails
« on: March 23, 2004, 03:52:40 AM »
Can anyone explain to me how to remove a drive from one of the lower vertical 5.25" bays of an Escom 4000T? Those clips are driving me crazy. Is there a special trick to getting them released? I can release the drive from the metal drive cage, but the clips catch on the front of the tower.

Thanks.

You must remove the front cover first.  A little bit of carefull work with a butter knife and it pops right off!
then everything slides in and out easily

Doh. I was hoping to avoid doing that. Well, I'll give it a shot. Thanks for your help.

EDIT: The front of the 4000T doesn't seem to come off. Not without major disassembly, that is. You sure you're not thinking of the 3000T?

Other suggestions?

It's not screwed in - the screws you can see only hold the black clips in place. Just pull the front off. The whole plastic front just clips off.

It's by far the easiest part of that evil case to remove and replace.

Just push both of them in as hard as you can while jerking the whole thing out!
