Boot from second in daisy chain
« on: October 23, 2024, 09:56:45 PM »
So, I would like to boot from a Gotek attached to a external diskette drive passthrough on my Amiga 500. I have the df0<>df1 switch so df1 boot is doable. But is it possible to set df2 boot?
I will connect to the pass through with an externa floppy adapter with jumpers, but I se none in the original metal frame drive.

Is it at all possible?

Reason is that I would like the extended length to get the external Gotek to sit on/besides my external drive, but 50/40cm flat/power cable from the external drive port is not enough. Using the passthrough would be optimal.

Not with kick 1.x, no.
With kick 2.x onwards you can in principle boot from any drive, but many games are hard coded to only load from DF0:
