Mount ADF as volume in AmigaDOS 3.1?
« on: February 04, 2018, 03:47:16 PM »
Is there a program that will allow an ADF to be mounted and accessed as if it were a physical disk in 3.1? How about 1.3? Thanks.

Not sure about WB 1.3 but this will work with 3.1.

Perhaps not with a single program, but you can do it with two:

http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/fmsdisk

(to mount a virtual floppy)

and then write the .adf with:

Hi

EasyADF will do this function.  You select the ADF then destination device as RAD: and click Write Disk button and then it will mount on the Workbench screen.

Hope this helps!

YUP!  This is what I was looking for to tell him.  I have it installed but forgot what and where I got it.  You can mount all kinds of images, even D64s.

Use diskimage.device as suggested above and just rename IDF1 as DF1.

For reading and writing ADFs from and to physical disk, respectively, this package, as mentioned above, is fantastic.

In the past I used transdisk command line to make some adfs but I always preferred the old DMSII GUI as it gives images below 900KB.

Nowadays I made 2 button scripts on my old DOpus to make/extract both adf and dms.

Also check out the XFileSystem package. It can do a lot more (reading/writing various alien floppy formats), but includes file.device. You can press a hot-key combination to open a file requester then choose an ADF to mount.
