Amiga 4000/040 wanted
« on: August 23, 2017, 07:54:09 PM »
Hi people,

I need an Amiga 4000/040 with a math coprocessor. If anyone has one for sale I will be keen to know. Alternatively a 4000/ 040 mother board without damage

Perhaps you should be more specific. I.e., one in a desktop chassis, etc.?

I think OP needs to state exactly what they're looking for.  A4000's show up regularly on ebay and Amibay.  Hard to help someone when they're not clear what it is they want.  Maybe a language barrier?  Dunno, just a guess...

England has no King, England needs no King. And one does not simply acquire an Amiga 4000d 040. And a maths co-processor my old Gaffer used to use. The 040 has an fpu incorporated.

I think mine is pretty complete @alphagemini. The 68040 has the 68882 co-processor.

I'm also thinking of editing the listing to add in the offer of any number of Amiga Formats from the period 1997-2000 to the lucky winner.

No it doesn't. Good lord, people. How have we been using Amiga's all these years and not even know the basics? The 68040 has a built-in FPU, unless you have one of the crippled "EC" or "LC" versions, which are pretty rare in Amiga-land.

Sysinfo told me it was '68040+68882'. Had no idea if it was built in or separate. But at least it has one!

I was thinking the same thing.  Unless you're that lucky guy who tripped over a few A4000T's in an alley a decade or so back.
