AOS 3.x Spreadsheet savefiles
« on: July 02, 2017, 10:48:38 AM »
So, I just installed Ignition, and it looks quite good. I also got TurboCalc, and again, its decent.

BUT, is there any way of saving/converting the savefiles so it can be read on modern Spreadsheet programs like Libreoffice? I see on Aminet there is a addon for ODS files for AOS4, but such a feature is missing for AOS3 sadly.

Ive found productivity programs sufficient/usable and userfriendly (resolutionwise) on Amiga since I started using Vampire thru HDMI, but obviously the programs are somewhat outdated.

I guess I dont actually need to transfer my spreadsheets from the Amiga to WIntel machine often, but once in a while I do make PDFs for example in a workrelated capacity, which forces me to use Libreoffice.

Final comment; yes, Im obviously bonkers wanting to use the Amiga AOS3 for anything beyond playing games, but it would be kinda neat to get to the point where ive configured it so I could use it for "everything". I got by in the early 90s with only Amiga, so I  guess its still possible.

And Shk reminded me of the Export feature, which allows for exporting to xls Excel format 4. Im dense. But I guess its a reasonable topic all the same.

I was not aware that this ever came beyond beta demo release for 68k, with import/export disabled. What happened, where can one get it?

I apologize for mixing TurboCalc and Ignition; Its TC that has the export feature. Just had a brief look at it, and then went to work/currently stuck at hotel :-/
So with no export/import filters I guess Ignition is useless.

Will test more this week when I have time.

VERY cool! And thanks for sharing!

I will have a close look at that setup later today when work permits. I have a long weekend coming up, so I will have plenty of time to tinker.

EDIT; I have that googledrive program, and its pretty sweet. And Im not overly suprised TC has issues figuring out modern savefiles.

What Im missing on my Vampire config is basically PDF reader and a semi modern Spreadsheet (which can make PDFs like Libre can).
But transfering to Libre like you did is a decent bandaid.
