Development on 3.1 and older
« on: May 11, 2017, 12:55:33 AM »
Is there any active development on "new"(ish) software for 3.1 and older? I realize there is a ... more or less fair amount of development ... for the 4.x OS. Just curious about what, if anything, is still in development for the 3.1 and older machines.

Good question!  Would you consider "the 3.1 market" to also be "the Vampire market"?  Because I've seen a few things pop up recently that say "requires a Vampire".  Granted, it's mostly ports, but it's development... in a sense, anyway... right?

Tales of Gorluth 2 and Superted were created on Backbone, a Workbench 3 program. Hope that helps. :)

There are a number of games that recently were released, like Reshoot, Tanks Furry, and many more.
If you look at Aminet 'recent uploads' there are lots of software updates for AOS3.

aros is and a number of its contributions and ports is working on genuine amigas (68k) to higher or lesser extent. and its still being worked on among other platforms, albeit not as intensively as it should be.

I would be somewhat surprised if nobody ever released software for 3.1 and earlier to aminet, ever again.

It depends what you mean by "active development". If you mean "software that must be paid for" then I haven't seen a lot, if any, and nothing outside of games.

Still holding out for a commercial Ibrowse 2.5. Fingers crossed.

I tried to buy a copy of Tanks Furry but their website didn't work. Still waiting for a normal distributor to pick up a few copies.

Another killer of the Amiga market - poor distribution of what does manage to become available. :(
