why is my FPU not showing up under plain WB3.1?
« on: July 09, 2016, 04:01:22 AM »
so my A4k still in pieces trying to get my RR working with X-Surf100 and just fiddling around when I noticed my FinalCalc spreadsheet wasn't loading up anymore??? turns out OS3.1 doesn't show an FPU on Cyberstorm MKIII anymore?
I know the 060 has a full CPU as I was running a full version of Lightwave via my toaster running very fast with no issues so figured I'd reinstall the CS-MKIII drivers from Phase 5 and still no fpu??

SOLVED! see post 10

Right 060 library?

Have you tried using any tools to detect it (SysInfo, Scout, etc.) or are you just basing that it's "missing" on FinalCalc not loading?

ya Sysinfo reports no fpu & mmu mind you it doesn't see my 060 either as it picks it up as an 040...I remember Sysspeed was much more accurate but don't know if it fits on a disk? have to check that out

for 060 libs I use Phase 5's...they always worked well for me

Not in front of my Amiga right now but pretty sure the latest version of SysInfo (4.0) can properly detect an 060. Anyhow, just suggested it since I know most Amiga users have it, of course there are better tools, lol. ;)

Definitely sounds like an 060 library problem. Or off-hand, maybe SetPatch needs to activate something? Or try using the CPU command? Dunno, I haven't slept over 24 hours so probably am not very much help. :(

Try THoR's libraries?

As others have already indicated, this is usually caused by the 68060.library not loaded. For that, please put the library in libs: (and the mmu.library into LIBS: if you're using mine). For Os 3.1, you'd better install with the installer script which also updates SetPatch, and places the 680x0.library into LIBS: as well (where 'x' is the literal x).

For Os 3.9, only put the 68060.library into LIBS: (plus mmu.library, for my libs). SetPatch of 3.9 is smart enough to load the right library in first place.
The 680x0.library can remain in LIBS: and also has a function, but is not required for SetPatch.
