Amiga 3000 Hard drive problem
« on: April 25, 2016, 12:31:08 PM »
Hello,

I have set up a 1GB Scsi HDD within WinUAE. All works fine.

But when I put the drive into the Amiga 3000, it powers up, but does not spin.

It`s still fine in the PC with WinUAE, and other hard drives are fine in the Amiga.

Any ideas?

Simon

Is the master/slave jumper in the correct position if its an IDE? If its SCSI is it terminated correctly and set to the correct ID (not conflicting with another device in your 3000)?
Amiga 2000HD Indivision ECS
Amiga 4000D towerised OS 3.1 and 3.9 on CF cards
Indivision AGA, Mediator 4000
Video Toaster 4000 Flyer v4.3 Millenium.
202gig of video drive space & 5gig audio.

Its Scsi

No other devs are in the system - well a floppy, but I guess thats not going to cause the problem.

I will check the ID of it somehow (need to google the drive I think)

As for the set up,  the Scsi cable is set for two devices, one the HDD, and then the CD drive.
The CD drive is not attached, but the cable is there...Could that be the issue?

If its not terminated properly, yes.

Hi,  thanks for that.

CD drive added from the original VR machine set up, and all seems fine now! :D

Sounds like the CD drive was the end and termination is on. If you find out how to terminate the drive you can remove the CD drive or attach an active terminator in the CD drives place.

The CD drive has dip switches, that one is labelled `Term`, so I guess thats it.

On the VR machine, it had a CD drive to play the in-game music, but on the other machines I have, it has never worked..

I`ll keep the CD drive in, so to see if it works this time!

Thanks
