@billchase

AFAIK the A1200 is zorro II; the only zorro III busboard you can get for an A1200 is the one from Micronik, and it requieres an A3000/A4000 accelerator installed to operate in zorro III mode.

So is the bigger the better graphics card the way to go with regards to the Voodoo cards then? Or would I be wasting my time?

Like I said, I can get a Voodoo 5 5500 64mb PCI model for £45 including everything.  If this is a great price, please can someone let me know!

Many thanks!

If you cannot afford an 060/PPC board then I would seriously recommend you consider an 060 only board over an 040/PPC board. An 060 is more than enough for most people and unless you want to play advanced 3D games, watch video files or use emulators there is not much software out there that really needs a PPC processor. On top of that the game you want to play, Napalm, will not benefit in any way from a PPC processor. The Mediator/PCI GFX card is really the only option worth considering for an A1200 as Zorro II is painfully slow.

By the way I am not sure on this one but I think that Mediator can only cope with up to a Voodoo 3 card. Hopefully a Mediator user can enlighten us on this one.

The Mediator copes with Voodoo 3 and upwards, though it just happens that Voodoo 4&5 are compatible with Voodoo 3 and that is the main reason for them working with the driver used with Mediator. Even though you could theoretically push more out of a Voodoo 4&5 it is just not going to happen anytime soon on the AMiGA. Thus, go for the Voodoo 3 since the money you will be throwing on a 4&5 will not give you better results.

Oh, and this is what I have been told. I refuse to claim to hold the truth. Because I do not now if I do...  weeeeee! =)

The Voodoo 3 3000 will be more than enough for me then :)  I'll see if I can track down a decent priced 060 board....
