Getting back on the net
« on: January 09, 2016, 12:19:35 AM »
Trying to reconnect my A1200 to the internet...again, and not having much
luck.  Back to using pcmcia card with ethernet.  Is there a command to tell
me what IP address is currently loaded into my computer.  I can ping to the router
and other systems on my network but how do I get my current config on my Amiga?
Thanks in advance as always.

We'd need to know what TCP/IP stack you're running and what version of Workbench.  Your stack would be one of the following:

  • AmiTCP
  • Genesis
  • Miami
  • Roadshow
  • Easynet

How you get online varies widely depending on which program you're using.  There were just several threads on all of these the past few days, you didn't see them?  Varying "pros & cons" such as "Roadshow is the fastest", "Miami is the easiest", etc.
Amiga 500: 2MB Chip|16MB Fast|30MHz 68030+68882|3.9|Indivision ECS|GVP A500HD+|Mechware card reader + 8GB CF|Cocolino|SCSI DVD-RAM
Amiga 2000: 2MB Chip|136MB Fast|50MHz 68060|3.9|Indivision ECS + GVP Spectrum|Mechware card reader + 8GB CF|AD516|X-Surf 100|RapidRoad|Cocolino|SCSI CD-RW

I have two ethernet configs set up on Miami. One with the IPs set so I can use my local network and the other set to AUTO Detect DNS so that I can use Broadband. With Miami you obviously need to put the card online before you can do anything, and from that interface it will tell you how you have matters set up.

To go online I don't set an IP Address for Broadband.

Also the little cardreset tool is needed but I guess you already know about all of that.

So how are you putting the card online ?
