@Methanoid
I'd be interested in collaborating with you. Although I think it would make more sense to use a *nix system as basis.

Lower overheard and more customization options.

The D-UAE Project has run its course.  The availability of hardware has dried up.  I am looking at another solution as we speak.

A low cost Intel Celeron dual core or AMD FM1 based system could be built cheaply.
A board based on a mobile AMD processor could be even cheaper.

The project is dead for good.  Thanks to a few in the Amiga community who felt it necessary to bully me out of existence.  I dont need the drama and crap this community has.

So I bid you all Good Day and goodbye

@c64man

Just out of curiosity I'm interested in what @#$#>>#@@!!! legal issues you could possibly have on the copyright front ?

Paying Cloanto their fair share (1/2 of price of machine) seems more than enough to justify legality of your project.

Dedicated Amiga Emulation Station seems like a very legal name for a project too.Sorry it ended this way for you :angry:

Sorry to hear things didn't pan out for you, but I'd be lying if I didn't see the issues you've suffered coming from day one.

In retrospect, you would have been 1000 times better off just following your heart in the belief that you are offering a good value for the products you're selling and leaving the community Peanut Gallery out of it entirely.  This community is a hell of a group of people to please one way or another.

And yes, I'm aware how that makes me sound like a hypocrite.  I was likely the first person to raise issue when you were selling the systems before you decided to include a legal copy of AF with it, but I meant no malice by that.  I simply didn't want you to hit any legal snags, and I sure never wanted you to receive the verbal lashings you have.  I find it offputting to listen to people claim you're making monthly payments on a foreign sportscar by selling rebadged UAE thin client machines, when in fact you're apt to be losing money, if anything.

At the end of the day, anyone can throw together what is effectively roadside rubbish PC hardware and make themselves a UAE emulation station for next to nothing, costs wise.  Not everyone wants to go through that effort, and some people were indeed interested in your low profile, reasonably priced, efficient thin client solutions.  If they weren't, you wouldn't have sold a single one, and that does speak volumes.

There's a market there for such machines, and I hope you stick with it.

Best of luck.

If someone came around to my house to build me one of these and I had bought all the necessary parts, I'd think that it would deserve at least a six pack of *good* beer and that's if he is local and a friend.

I do not understand why anyone would begrudge someone a little recompense for their work, and you know, even if they had it down pat, that still takes nothing away from the value of the effort put into it. $135 seemed a very reasonable price for a machine that can boot effectively straight into an Amiga so that someone can play all the old games, I don't believe it was advertised as a power machine was it? So as long as it manages, I see no problem especially if the install of XP is optimized for low-overhead, Windows itself being one of the major drags of performance for any app.

I do however agree, that if the machine is specced 1ghz, it should reflect that in advertising or evidence shown that it is what it is otherwise.

But still, this looks/looked far from a rip-off and, no offence to the detractors, I don't see y'all offering the same kit/service for any less. But now that the coast is clear for you, I'm sure you will all jump at the chance to provide the much better service that c64man was failing to deliver. I wait with bated breath.

I thought expecting it for free was how the Amiga community operated.
Or was that what you meant?
In any case, I'm sorry to see this one die.
