The Sam460cr looks like an interesting board, no onboard sound card or SATA for 469,00 €. I have a SATA card and sound card I can use but there's only one PCI slot?

I would have buy a PCI-e sound card.

The board has PCI, PCIe 1x and PCIe 4x and that's it. Going by spec would be similar speed to the Pegasos 2 board but less expandable.

Only plus side is the ability to use modernish cards, still no Warp3D support though ;-) Will stick with the Pegasos 2 and see what the X3500-X5000 look like.

The 440ep-flex 800Mhz versions are ok AOS4 starter machines and pci->pci-e adapters and you can use more modern cards but lack 3D due to drivers, my 440ep-flex is the 800Mhz version and I got it quite cheap and put a radeon HD 7770 in it (overkill on the dog slow PCI bus but I had it spare laying around), then a SSD for fast access time.

Works quite good but I prefer my mac mini and morphOS but that's me.

B: It has to be HyperionOS4 and only HyperionOS4.  MorphOS is banned.

I probably shouldn't comment on this, seeing all the replies in the bankrupt thread, but it is AmigaOS not HyperionOS.

I bought a HD5450 PCI for $50NZD so no need for an adapter, probably wont see any benefit in something higher at this point in time.

Still no 3D and no Warp3D, but really fast 2D woohoo.....;-)

Also, as of now you won't be able to use hardware H264 video decoding on the Pegasos (i.e. Youtube videos in HD)... Bit let down..

Originally yes as I had a plan ;-) The card is detected when it's a second card, issue being that it wont let me have two ATI cards and stops the ATI driver from working.

Being however that it is shown in the list of devices there must be away of using it with dual cards.

Of course the firmware wont initialize the HD card on it's own so no display.

Overall there are too many limitations and gotchas with NG Amigas, not only hardware but software too is never straight forward.

After building a full blown A1200T (well apart from PPC) and its long long list of issues and restrictions the Amiga NG stuff is nothing although still frustrating.

I still find myself going back to the A500 with a Gotek USB and using WinUAE + AmigaOS 4.1 FE now and then.

Had missed that there where such a "modern" radeon card for PCI on the market, thanks for the tip :)

It's a nice little card for other builds limited to PCI as well as a substitute for the NVIDIA 8400gs :)

NP, it's a good card too. Not too bad speed wise, would make a good option for various projects.

Like a 1RU server with only a PCI slot :-)

Wow, I'm impressed by the helpful advice from everyone. My plan is to get the Pegasus 2 Board equipped to a Power PC. Going to save up for an X5000 when it comes out, that's going to be the big upgrade. Say's on the A-Eon Calendar X5000 for October. Can't be that long to wait.

Yeah :) I have a dual CPU xeon server taking care of my my torrent seeding, file server etc it could use that as a computing card (the 5450 has opencl support i think) since the pci-e slots are bussy with SAS controllers :)

Got more scenarios/projects I could use it for also :)

If you can make it along to
Recursion in July you'll be see a variety of NG systems in use.  Not sure if Amigakit are going or not but if they are they'll probably bring along their X5000.
