VMWare and Amithlon: Does it work?

I tried hunting for an answer to this on Google, but nothing conclusive to be seen.
Just wondered if anyone had any success with either Amithlon or AmigaXL running on VMWare/VirtualPC, or whatever?
The only mention that could be found, was that someone claimed to have it running, but others refuted that and said Amithlon only made it as far as the bootscreen and then hung.
