Help with SCSI

Hello

I have a Trump card pro scsi controller.

Im trying to install hard drive to it, I have a two options.

Quantum Atlas IV 9,1gb 68 pin and HP 146 gb 80 pin SCSI drives.

HDtoolBox doesnt found them, I have tried without any other scsi drives connected.

Quantum has a typical ID jumpers, but also these :  Force se and no wide

HP does not have any jumpers, but 50 to 80 adapter has following, syn, dly and mtr what ever they do?

I ques that HP is lost case, too new for trump card, but any hints for Quantum Atlas?

SCSI drives are both forward and backward compatible and those brands are known to work well with the Amiga hardware (I prefer the Atlas); since both drives are giving you trouble, the common denominator seems to be the controller or computer.  Would you mind listing your setup (KS, WB, and hardware) and when you last had the Trumpcard working?

In general, the 50-to-80 pin converters can be left without any jumpers unless you need your terminators powered; I suggest using both end, powered and active termination on a bus/cable that has hard drive that exceed SCSI-1 specifications, and your's do.

Also, are you entering the correct device name in HDToolBox?  It should be something like, trumpcard.device as scsi.device is reserved for Amiga controllers.

LED - lights up on drive access

SYN - synchronize, Synchronous spindle synchronizing signal generated by host or drive

DLY - delay, Asserted by host to enable Delayed Motor Start Option (motor starts         at power on or after a delay of 12 seconds times drive ID). This and MTR are mutually exclusive options

MTR - motor, Asserted by host to enable Motor Start Option

Wide hard drive cable with proper termination (example):
[Active, wide & powered Terminator]<-------->[SCSI Controller]<-------->[Wide (16-bit) Hard drive]<-------->[any SCSI HDD]<-------->[Active, wide & powered Terminator]

At high data transmission speeds the data signal is subject to "noise" and signal variations; the Passive termination uses resistors to dampen mild noise, but an Active terminator uses a powered circuit to "smooth the signal out."

Trump card actually works right now. I took a 4gb hp hard drive to it, from another amiga.

Trump card manual says that it doesnt need a terminator unless cable is long, something like 70cm. I dont have any active terminator or cables to use with them. Only 3 connectors per cable.

Currently I use cd drive as a terminator.

I ques that I try to set up those drives with GVP scsi controller and see what happen.

I did change a scsi.device name to correct one to hdtoolbox.

What about that "no wide scsi" jumper, should I put it on or not?

the cd drive is a good terminator-make sure it is the last physical drive on the cable. Set the "no wide" jumper-this will terminate the high bytes on the drive so it works with narrow scsi properly..
These old cards weren't made to run with big drives but i should think it would see it.
 try the trumpcard tools(do not LOW LEVEL FORMAT IT!) this is not the same as a amigados format.

Make the partitions 2gb or less each and you may not be able to use more than 4gb total on the trumpcard with the drive(not sure).
