For Sale: SGI Octane Workstation
« on: August 13, 2014, 11:25:40 PM »
I'm coming into possession of an Octane2 so my Octane is no longer needed by me.

Specs:
300MHz R12000 MIPS CPU ( Upgradeable to 2 x 600MHz R14000 )
1GB RAM ( Expandable to 2GB )
V6 Odyssey Graphics 32MB
72GB 10k7 RPM SCSI HDD ( Takes up to 3 80 pin SCA UW SCSI drives )
IRIX 6.5.30 or can come without an OS
Free PS/2 SGi Keyboard

I used this as a daily driver, it can browse using the Firefox port on IRIX well, even with JS enabled, play 480p XviD video and function as a fast and powerful UNIX workstation while embracing the concepts that made the Amiga great.

You can use Photoshop 3.0 and Illustrator 5.5 on it, as well as Pro/E and Maya. Definitely a great workstation for any retro computing enthusiast.

Price $200 + FedEx ground Shipping to the US
After many years in the Amiga community I have decided to leave the Amiga community permanently. If you have a question about SGI or Sun computers please PM me and I will return your contact as soon as I can.

If you can find a dual CPU module the motherboard comes out with two screws and two release bars. Then it's just undo some crews holding the module in place, swap the modules and go. You can't simply get two single CPU modules and put them in together.

Yeah Agami, from Virginia to Australia would be expensive... Its a 30kg computer. Probably would cost more to ship than I'm selling it for, but then again I sell these for cut rate because I refuse to rip people off.

This Octane has been claimed.

And with that all of my SGI stock is gone at the moment. Hoping to get more in the future!
