« on: February 23, 2014, 11:32:48 PM »
I have a Amiga CD IDE Adapter Kipper 2k 2012 installed in my A600. It has 2 dip switches. Any documentation for that ?

The kipper memory expansion just clips onto the 68000 CPU in your A600, facing the same way as in the picture you provided. Push the kipper expansion down onto the 68000 chip until the socket is flush with the motherboard.

Hi Paul,

I popped in the fastmem card like you suggested.

I ran 'avail' command, see   http://www.flickr.com/photos/84872095@N08/12762753135/

Chip Maximum says 1,047,552 , which means 1 meg right? So something is missing.

The chip ram is only expandable to 2 MB via a 1 MB chipram expansion in the trapdoor slot of the A600 (such as the A604 by Individual Computers). The kipper unit is a fast ram expansion - and what's worrying here is that your machine hasn't recognised the fast ram at all. Are you sure it's clipped on fully? Also, what's always recommended is to clean the 68000 CPU IC contacts (all of the legs basically). If I was you I'd use isopropyl alcohol and cotton wool buds (Q tips to north Americans).

The 1 meg chip ram reported is normal. The Kipper2K is a fast ram expansion and will not upgrade the chip ram. As Paul1981 said, to upgrade chipram to 2 meg (MAX) you will need a trapdoor ram expansion.

Besides making sure the the 68000 CPU IC contacts are clean though they shouldn't need cleaning, make sure you have pushed the Kipper2K board properly over the 68000. You need to give it a good press over the 68000 so that it fits properly and tight and make sure you are fitting it in the right orientation.

I have the 2007 Kipper2K board and they are very good.
