Problems with connection A3000 to PC with COM-port.
« on: November 26, 2013, 07:44:21 PM »
Hi, ALL !

Just received A3000 machine. Never had an Amiga before... Downloaded Adf Sender Terminal V 1.5, bought 9pin null-modem com cable, COM 9 pin to 25 adapter and USB->COM device. Tried spreed 19200... First, sender terminal was showing 100% progress of data transfer, but transfered file in Dopus seemed to be twice shorter, than it is in original and .run and adf files failed to open in Amiga. Tried a pentium-3/winXP machine with normal com-port instead of moderm PC/win7 with USB->COM device -  result was the same. Than I checked the  pinouts of cables, they seemed to be wrong so I connected them as
com9-com25
      2-2
      3-3
      4-6
      5-7
      6-20
      7-5
      8-4
As shown on the site Amiga.org.ru - and now ADF terminal shows only 5% of data transfer progress and no data seem to go into A.

What can be wrong ?

Are you just trying to transfer ADF disk images from PC to Amiga? If so you might want to pick up the kit described here:

I used that successfully many times to transfer files between modern Win7 PC's and my Amigas,  before I upgraded them to include CD drives.  Now when I want to transfer files between systems I just burn them to RW discs. Disregard all the negative comments on that thread, as long as your ports aren't damaged and you use good quality floppy disks, you'll be fine. ;)

Edit - Oh, and welcome to the site!
