Blinking power LED on an A2000

Hello everyone,

I recently acquired an Amiga 2000 and am having an issue with it. The first time I switched it on, everything worked fine. I was able to see the screen asking me for the Workbench disk.

But now the screen shows nothing and the power LED blinks all the time. I'm using a CRT television, so I can't see any color, sorry.

If anyone can help me with this problem, I would be most grateful. Thanks.

If the battery hasn't leaked on the board and eaten some traces, then it is most likely a case of you need to pop the chips and reseat them. it is common with old sockets etc. use a proper plcc puller for the custom chips so you dont break the sockets.

Open your case (four screws on the sides, one on the back), then remove the drive sled (four screws on the back around the PSU and three on the front). The battery is located at the front of the motherboard near the keyboard connector. Inspect it carefully. If it looks anything like this:
 

 
you'll need to remove it immediately, since the longer it stays in the more damage it will cause. Then start googling "clean up Amiga motherboard battery damage". In most cases the A2000 is a tank and can be brought back. You can always post pics here if you need more advice.
 
On the other hand if there is no battery, a coin cell battery, or no leakage, you should start by checking all your connections and reseating all custom chips.

Thank you guys for your replies. I have already reseated most of the chips, but no luck. Should I have done that to all of them?

When it comes to the battery, I did remove it immediately when I received the computer. Unfortunately, the battery has leaked, but nowhere near as bad as the pic you have above. I'll try to take a picture of that area so you guys can see if the damage is really bad.

I forgot to mention that the Amiga power LED would blink for 10 times and then an 11th time for a little bit longer. After that, it looks like the screen would "reset"(or flash) itself and continue all over again.

check psu voltages first.

Reseat all socketed chips-anything less is pi**ing in the wind, check the pins and sockets for any blue green corrosion. If the original batt leak was not cleaned up it may of continued eating traces until one was broken, or also it is conductive so it can short them also. badly corroded sockets need replacing,and if the chip pins cant be cleaned,they also can.

the 10 short,1 long caps light suggests agnus.. pull it,be sure it has no bent pins and all are clean-check the socket well, and reinstall.

Some good pictures of the battery leak area would be great!

The blinking led is likely 9 short and 1 long for bad ram.  There is a possibility of the floppy having a zero-track error and unable to initialize, it would then repeat the boot process over and over.

You need to prevent further damage from the KOH or lye that leaked from the battery by rinsing the board with white vinegar (acetic acid), gently rinsing after with distilled/deionized water in minimal amounts and then some 90% isopropyl alcohol to help dry up any left behind water.  Lastly let it dry overnight.

I have noticed that under the 68K chip there is some blue/green corrosion in the socket pins, closest to where the battery used to be. Is that able to be cleaned?
The Agnus chip is the square-shaped one, correct? If so, what's the best method of removing it from its socket? I don't want to try it myself first and end up ruining it. I'll reseat all the socketed chips when I know how to properly remove the Agnus chip.

I don't know how to post photos directly on here, so here's some links to the photos where you can see the area where the battery used to be. Please let me know how bad the damage is.

Thank you for the tips on cleaning the motherboard properly after that stupid batty leak. I truly appreciate it .
