Using an AMIGA 500 for BBS & IRC in 2013
« on: September 16, 2013, 11:16:30 AM »
This is a short video of my rather stock (Kick 1.2 / 1 MB) AMIGA 500, accessing the Monterey BBS and IRC. The A500 is attached to a serial device server, which connects to a Fritz!Box 7112 DSL router. The 7112 is running Freetz, a nice firmware mod which allows the installation of addons such as irssi, a console IRC client. Have fun:

Always cool to see old computers being used for tasks that may not seem immediately obvious, or a little different than what their creators might have envisioned.

Good stuff  :)
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

True... I doubt the developer of NComm imagined that his software would "dial" an IP address. ;)

Thanks for demoing from Monterey!  Free advertising for the BBS is always appreciated lol
