Amiga for your car
« on: February 12, 2004, 04:32:24 PM »
This just caught my eye...

I'd really like to build that this summer when I get some additional hobby time.  :-) My model will include a touchscreen (with bigger icons to push with) instead of messing around with a mouse.

I'm totaly gonna build one of these for my car. I've been looking for a hardrive mp3 player for my car for awhile. It seems like A1200/A600's are getting pretty rare on ebay these days. Anyone got a stock machine they want to sell cheap ;-)
Even just a motherboard would get me started.

That looks cool!. I was thinking of doing more of the full usable computer with a small LCD screen on the dash w/ a trackball on the front of the armrest. I would be fine with the native sound coming from the paula (I kind of like that vintage 8bit coolness) :-D

Paula doesn't do the job, since it can't handle 16 bits sound. The extension connected on the parallel port does the job.

You can get the MAS3507D processor from Spectre Online.

They were £20 + Postage (approx £6 in the UK) when I enquired about the chip waaaaay back in September. Buying the A600 with a memory upgrade, adding a HD and finding out about the chip was about as far as I got with my A600 in car project thing. I struggled to find a good source of smallish TFT screens for a reasonable price. If anyone knows of any good sources please let me know!

Thanks

Kev
