Amiga cd32 psu pinouts + A500 psu pinouts
« on: April 29, 2008, 03:34:15 AM »
I dont have my voltmeter with me so I'm hoping someone has this memorized...

My cd32 PSU is bad.. I can use a A500 psu.

I cut the 4 pin DIN connector off of the CD32 PSU and cut off the connector off the A500 PSU.

Which colors go to which? I see the diagram but that doesnt help me out.

Both PSU's have 4 of the same color wires but I'm assuming I cant just splice red --> red, yellow --> yellow etc..

Having converted a ATX PSU for my CD32 recently, I have the info freshly at hand.

CD32 4-Pin Din Male (At PSU end looking directly on)

1 = 12v yellow
2 = Unused
3 = GND
4 = 5v Red

I'm not certain if Commodore PSUs use the same colour conventions as modern PC PSUs, but I've based those colours from the ATX PSU I'm using for my CD32.

The A500 male plug

1 = Shield
2 = +12v Brown
3 = -12v White
4 = GND Black
5 = 5v Red
A500, A600, A1200, A2000, A4000D, A4000T, CD32

well.. it powers on and displays a picture.  How do you load a game? just pop in the cd and close it then it loads automatically?  If so then I guess my cd32 no workie.  :- /

However I'm unsure on the "not used" because RS-232 ports may malfunction silently. As RS-232 needs at least -3V to be standards compliant. This can be accomplished with an charge pump if not provided by the PSU directly.
