Isnt 2mpixels a little low this days?

Definitely the low end of the market, but a million pixels will make no difference if the CCD sucks, or the camera's operating software is crap, etc ;-)

My sis has a 2.1M Olympus, the results on that are generally brilliant, and 2M cameras cost peanuts these days. All depends on the desired application I suppose... YMMV.

Actually 2.1 MP wont even for printing out decent quality photos..

But anyway.. Really depends on what you are going to use it for.. I guess 2.1 would be more than enough, if you where going to use it for internet for example..

2.1MP does 1600x1200, which is plenty enough for what I will be using it for. Anyting more is insane overkill since I usually crop pics to about 800x600 or so. Most use will be for web.

OK, so if your digital camera is compatible with Poseidon, are you required to do anything special in order for the stack/OS3.9 to recognize it as a drive? Do you need to mount it through FAT95 or something?

No, you just use PencamTool or VHI Studio to grab the pics. Well, at least on my camera. The top-end cameras might have some kind of built in filesystem, but I've never used one.

The best 2mp Digi camera money can buy is the Canon A60, you really can't get much better at this range,
it's identical to the A70 in every respect except the megapixel difference and max video resolution.

Yep i have one, i went from a Sony 3.2mp to that 2.1 mp a60, much better cam.
Big Resolutions really means nothing unless you are gonna print over 10x8, so if you no intentions of going over that print size or ever printing them at all,  stick with the lower MP cams, saves dosh!

The whole megapixel race is getting a joke, for the average person who wants to take some shots, print a few out around 6x4 threw to 10x8... those 6MP will probably never be needed. 2.1mp threw to 4mp should suffice.
Only thing i look forward to is possibly superior video handling, we have 640*480 25/30 fps Digi cams starting to show up already

Spend  your money on what you need and can afford, there is more to the cams that just megapixels.

Some usefull links below on Digi cam hints & tips and great reviews, most mentioned here are coverered.

I just noticed the A60 is now £99 at Amazon  :-o

However following on from the Kodak Easyshare's mentioned by red, I noticed the Kodak Easyshare DX6440, going in the UK for £189 (Pixmania), 4MP, 4x optical zoom, movies w/audio etc. etc. and some nice manual control.

Now I'm confused... :-) stuck between an A70 or the above.

@Calen
Thanks for those links, gonna go have a look.

I bought the Canon A60 last year & have not regreted it. Very small design, but feels good in
my hand & fits nicely in my shirt pocket. Took a closeup of my cat & you can count the hairs
in the picture. Lots of manual control for those special situations when 'auto' just will not do.
The ony thing Canon didn't do right is box the camera with standard allkaline batteries. These
will go dead in 2 hrs or less. Buy 4 Ni-MH rechargables & the charger, 1800ah or better.
I bought 4 more for spares so I'm never short. When't on a 2 wk trip & only had to change them
once & took about 300 pictures. Bought it from Amazon, no sales tax or shipping. If you don't
like it, send it back & get another model or brand.

Printouts are great. I use IFX, Ghostscript, TurboPrint, & a HP932C printer. Printing to PS makes a big difference vs TurboPrint alone. PS prints in 24 bit color & will show up when doing 10 x 8 printouts.

Here we use a Fuji A200 on MOS and it works
also as a mass storage device to move files
to other computers through usb, very handy.

We revied the Nikon 4300 4.3MP digital camera and the results are in out review section. http://www.swaug.org.uk/reviews

This camera supports the massstorage usb class and works fine with Poseidon.  It is generally a great camera to use with Amiga.
