Next Generation Solutions
« on: February 02, 2004, 07:22:58 PM »
Hello.

Since the PeggyII vs AmigaOne thread has apparently been locked and I hadn't had chance to have my say, I've posted my reply to HopperJF's post here:

-----------
Well... I only used one of the systems.
I opted for an AmigaOne in 2002, but it screwed up and ended up unrepairable.
I wasn't too impressed with it, so I'm sticking to classic amigas until a new amiga i like turns up.

Pegasos II looks impressive, and bplan seem a more professional company and better customer support, but I really want to see AmiDelf's Amiga 6000 project take off
------------

Mike:

If it's the classic Amiga solution you like, why not wait and see what Elbox come up with? They're supposed to be working on the SharkPPC which brings high power PPC to a classic Amiga machine.  Once OS4 is out and the AmigaOne takes off (assuming it does) it might well be that lots of people will be selling their classic Amigas to fincance a purchase of the Aone.  If they're cheap enough you could pick one up and hopefully buy a Shark for it when Elbox decide to release.

Personally I'll be going for the A1 as my next generation Amiga solution, although I do carry an interest for MOS and the Peggy so I'll be keeping an eye on what they come up with.  Also I'll NEVER sell my flag-ship Amiga (Amiga1200) so if SharkPPC comes out I'll definately want one.

Brian

Maybe you should wait for the replacement of the AmigaOne?

I think most people in the Amiga community have had enough waiting to last a lifetime  :-) There's alwasy something new just around the corner, I'd rather get what's available now and enjoy it.

...with good reason. It's also generally considered a bit dodgy to quote a locked thread to continue the same heated argument, you might want to alter/narrow down the subject so people don't start throwing mud again...
