Blizzard PPC Configuration Help!
« on: February 01, 2004, 12:13:35 AM »
Hi Dudes!

Since I´M STILL WATITTING for news of my CSPPC that its in DCE (NO news from palpatine)I can´t use my fully loaded 4K, so  I have managed to get my brothers 1200.

It has BPPC 040@33 PPC@240 SCSI and GFX via mediator.

The problem is that many PPC things doesnt work as its supposed to, or doesnt run at all. Some demos yes, some no, some games work, some not...

I hace installes ppclibemu, warpos and Bppcfix.

Can anyone pls tell me how to reconfigure my system or send me the current config files?

Thank you very much
-FranK B.

Hmm. The only things I can think of are the following.. Go in to the WarpOS preferences, and make sure it's on terminator 1 or 0. (This is needed for the ppclibemu.) Then bring up a shell and type in 'pciinfo' and check the memspace1 for the gfx card. That number should be in the  video address line in WarpOS prefs.

Warning long post following.

use at your own risk!!!

1. formatted HD with SFS .

2. Installed OS 3.9 onto HD

3. installed CDROM software  from 3.9 install script

4. installed PowerPC software support Warp OS V5 from 3.9 install           script selected Wshell Support&other GFX card from Question.

5. Installed BPPCFix from WarpUP archive. In the Startup-sequence before setpatch wrote  C:BPPCFix Install >NIL:
Fixes nasty terminate message on starting desktop and is needed to prevent BB2 problems

6. Installed Boing Bag One & Two

7. Installed MUI 3.8 choose to install image sets & Example programs

8. Installed off of MM CD Mediator 2.9 system files,Enhanced Voodoo         drivers,Warp 3d using supplied install script

9. Installed picasso96-2_1b using install script.
Choose Cybervison 64 3D as the graphic card.
Found the CVision3D and CVision3D.info in the DEVS:Monitors
drawer, renamed these files to Voodoo and Voodoo.info,
     respectively.
Changed in the tool type window of the Voodoo.icon:
BOARDTYPE = from CVision3D to Voodoo.
Double Clicked on the Voodoo icon (in Devs:Monitors drawer).
Started  the Picasso96Mode program (in SYS:Prefs drawer) and

frank:if you get wos exceptions etc , beware! your ppc might be underpowered (too little +5v) ,this can be fixed by putting an cable from the psu directly onto the bppc.

a friend of mine discovered this 2 weeks or so ago, first we belived it was a faulty card but i tested it in my machine and all where OK!, then we suspected that it was his morthrboard, and then several people on irc + here on amiga.org helped me/him with suggesting the extra feed.

now it runs everything (and his setup was correctly configured from day 1 of)

anyway if its WOS with Pup emu you are talking about, well sadly there is a few things that will never work in Pup EMU.

If its Demos (scene etc) then check out my website with everydemo (ppc) released , sadly i havent had the time to update it etc but all the info on it should clearly tell if it work on PupEmu or not and with mediator.

cheers

opps 1 more thing,

Remeber that GFX Memory is LOW! when u are in PPC mode with Warp3d on a1200 , max is 8mb!! , if u got too little mem , then it will crash/give u grey screen etc.

download P96Avail and use that to guide u into the world of memory (gfx)

1 example , 1 screen 1024x768x16bitPc (which u should use (16bit PC) use about 2.0 meg of gfx ram, add 1-2 meg more for a normal "Centered" background picture.

Quake 2 (640x480x16) needs 5.2+ or more megs free to run properly!
