It's faster than a 4 MB fast RAM expansion and you can use quit key on all WHDLOAD games. I have them both, but I think you better stay with the 4 MB Fast RAM Expansion. It says you can get 10 MB of RAM, but you could only use 4 MB of Fast RAM for WHDLoad.

Hi,

I'm not sure where amiga1260 get' his facts but you can use all the Ram in WHDload and this will help the bigger multidisk games run without stopping to load (you ever see the flashing screen?)  You need to run ACATune to get the extra Ram with -maxmem command.  You can also use -Maprom to run KS3.1 if you don't already have it.  The Rom being in Ram really peeds things up.

Workbench will be much nippier, you can use software that requires an 020 for example I prep my drives with SFS and this works under the 020 and speeds up things for me too.

basically anything you run in Workbench will be quicker, it wont have a direct affect on most games, some that require 3D rendering for example might be a little smoother :)

If you're happy with what you have there is no need to change, but if you want to explore further it's a great piece of kit and good value too.  As amiga1260 says you will be able to use the quit key in WHDLoad Games too.

All the best,

Steve.

The game that doesn't work is The Settlers. It needs 5 MB of Fast RAM and can't get a block of 5 MB of RAM.

If you get the ACA620, the Workbench will speed up immensely! As will 3D games such as Frontier, Virus and Citadel. It makes a huge difference.
Also, if you're using WHDLoad, many more games will now work whereas before they wouldn't (required 68020).
Workbench on a 68000 in 8 colours is a bit tedious, so if you're a big Workbench user it would be a big bonus.

The A1200 has more potential as you know, so there's no competition...the A1200 wipes the floor with the A600. I'd never pick between the two though, I'd make sure to have one of each!
Anyway... if i had to pick between a standard A1200 (2MB Chip, CF hard drive) and an A600 (2MB Chip, CF hard drive and ACA620 with 12MB Fast) then I'd pick the A600 without a doubt.
But...if you were to sell your current A600 setup, you could afford an A1200 with either an accelerator or a simple memory expansion card. And an A1200 even with a simple Fast Ram expansion card in the trapdoor will be a better machine than the said A600, mostly due to AGA.
