Wanted: A3630 or A3640 CPU card
« on: January 07, 2013, 03:41:24 PM »
It occurred to me that anyone looking to unload a 3640 might not read my last topic which only included A3630 in the subject, so I'm reposting.

I need a known-good CPU card for testing a busted A4000. I have a Warp Engine 040 but I have absolutely no idea if it works. I'd like to have a spare to test the system with. This can be either the '030 or '040 flavor CPU boards that shipped with the A4000s, so long as I can count on them being good. Does anyone have a spare?

Hi,

just posted my FA of 3640...wanted to say, I think mine is good, but haven't tested it recently (no working machine appropriate for it at this point) so in the interest of full disclosure may not be best for your purpose if you have no other option for testing.
Sincerely,

-- Sprocket...

Did Amiga Technologies change anything with the card vs the older Commodore ones? Are they typically interchangeable with the older mobos? I'll keep it in mind if I get tempted. ;)

My belief is the point of these is to be a straight replacement.

I have no direct knowledge of using it on different mobos though.
Sincerely,

@Mr Vanos

You need to change ur profile and say what country u r in.

It makes a big difference when conducting business. :)

Thanx :)

I have 2 A3640 cards laying around in a box for over 10 years.   I have no way of testing them to know if they work or not.  The guy I bought them from swore that they worked.  But it turns out making them work in an A3000 is just waaaay to complicated for me so I gave up on that project and never used them and never tried to use them.

AFA I ever heard: any A3640 or A3630 card works in any A4000D.

Its only when trying to bodge them into an old A3000 that there are complications.

Yes, I guess that would help. I'm in Alabama.

Cool I think I have been there before... it sounds familiar.  My dad used to work there sometimes I think... There must be a NASA facility nearby

Yes, for one thing (most importantly) they didnt reverse the polarity of the capacitors like Commodore did. Also, its the good 3.1 revision of the board. And, it has a super cool flat heatsink making it fit better in the amigas and makes it especially good for A3000D
