Windows TV Tuner Card (S-Video) to run Amiga through
« on: May 27, 2012, 08:06:09 PM »
I just pulled a Sony btf-pa402z out of my nephew's old computer. I'd like to install it into a Windows machine at home and use it as an input for my Amiga 1200 using Amiga Maniac's RGB adapter.

The question I have is what Windows software would be best suited for this task?

I don't need channel surfing options and all that jazz, but I do need to software to support full screen, the card, and the S-Video input port.

The reason I am doing this is because I am using the Windows machine to record the musick I am making with the Amiga and my various instruments, and I'd really rather not have two monitors in my set up.

Thankx in advance for any help.

You don't need a capture card.
A simple USB device can be used.
I just bought one of these for $4.44 with shipping.

Why don't you use a switch box that allows two computers to be hooked to one monitor?

That's what I was going to suggest. It drives my TV card, although I usually use the software that came with the card.

I have had good results with VirtualDub. There are a lot of deinterlacing and filter options you can tweak. I never tried dscaler so I don't know how it compares. VirtualDub's GUI is sort of schizophrenic, but the program works well enough.
